Our approach aims at spearheading the development of renewable energy projects in South Africa while mitigating market risks and developing a diversified portfolio of projects. Our project mix ensures short-term feasibility and optimises long-term opportunities, taking into account specific local constrains and opportunities. 

 WIND

Mulilo Renewable Energy Pty (Ltd) is planning to install a capacity of 1500 MW of wind farms in various locations around South Africa over the next five years. MRE has programmed to start installation of the first 100 MW by October 2010. The selection criteria for sites are based on a range of considerations including connectivity, productivity, terrain, EIA prospects and predictability of winds. Five wind farm projects are currently under development in cooperation with China Guodian Corporation and the China Africa Development Fund (CADF).

SOLAR 

Mulilo Renewable Energy Pty (Ltd) is currently developing pilot projects using both PV and CSP technology. Pilot plants focus on testing new technology and allow to fine tune configurations and gain local knowledge.  Mulilo Renewable Energy recently signed a MOU with Yingli solar and the China-Africa Development Bank (CADF) for the development in a Joint Venture of 2 pilot photovoltaic projects. Yingli Solar is one of the 5 largest international solar panel manufacturers in the world and will provide the technology and know-how. The China-Africa Development Bank (CADF) will partly fund the projects. 

HYDRO 

Mulilo Renewable Energy Pty (Ltd) has secured and is investigating various river sites for hydro energy projects. Feasibility studies are in progress.
