Mulilo Renewable Energy consists of a team of highly experienced people who have worked locally and internationally and combine engineering, construction, project management and financial expertise. Within our team we have the demonstrated capacity to deliver on large-scale projects and maintain leadership in a rapidly developing sector.

Mulilo Renewable Energy is represented by Christopher Aberdein as the Chairman; John Cullum as the CEO; Johannes Coetsee as Technical Director, David Crombie as Project Director, Niel Theron as Project Director Hydro and Constantin Hatzilambros, R&D.

Christopher Aberdein

Chairman

Christopher has a background in electrical engineering and is experienced in a wide range of business areas, including the development and operations of energy and mining operations in South Africa, Angola, Lesotho and Namibia. In addition, Chris has business interests in power companies, mining companies, aviation companies, fishing companies, exports and property development companies. Chris has developed strong business relationships with senior executives in the fields of energy, mining and construction and has been involved in deals both as an investor and consultant. He plays a key role in bringing together financial institutions and governments on energy and infrastructure developments in Africa. 

John Cullum 

CEO

John holds an Engineering degree from the University of Stellenbosch and is registered in the South African Institute of Engineers. John is a founding member, shareholder and Director of CSV Construction (Pty) Ltd, one of the Western Cape's biggest diversified civil engineering companies. Founded 15 years ago, CSV is the biggest private specialist in civil concrete structures in the Western Cape, among the leading providers of civil infrastructure services and a specialised building company. It employs over 600 people, including engineers and quantity surveyors. CSV has completed civil construction projects to the value of R 2.5BN over the last 5 years. John is also involved in Airport City Property Holdings and Execujet Business Centre, an industrial and commercial development project for a total value of R 1.2BN. 

Johannes Coetsee

Technical Director

Johannes holds a B Engineering (cum laude) degree and a Masters degree in Civil Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch as well as an MBA from UCT Graduate School of Business. Johannes has worked as a Design Engineer and Project Manager on major civil engineering projects, infrastructural projects and industrial building in South Africa. Since 1995, Johannes has been the Managing Director of a successful property development concern in South Africa. 

David Crombie 

Project Director Wind & Solar

David is a civil engineer (UCT) with 34 years of experience, specialising in the design and work layout of wind power plants, sewage plants and water purification systems. David has been with for Argus Gibb since 1986 as a senior executive engineer. David is also a member and former chairman of the Water Institute of South Africa.  

Niel Theron

Project Director Hydro

Niel holds a Civil Engineering diploma from the Cape Technicon. He successively held position as Estimator, Contract Manager, Chief Estimator, and Managing Director for different large Civil engineering companies including Stocks & Stocks, Reservoir Cover, Roadbridge Construction in Dublin and Critical Path Project Management. During his career, Niel developed a unique experience in the construction of roads, sewerage & water treatment plants, water reticulation systems and reservoirs, constructing the largest membrane lined and floating cover reservoir in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2006 he founded RIC Africa – a specialised Dynamic Compaction Contractor company– which recently completed the deep compaction of the substrata to the Parking apron for the A380 at OR Tambo International Airport, based on newly patented ground improvement methods. 

Constantin Hatzilambros

R&D Manager

Constantin holds an engineering degree from UCT. He is currently the only South African to date that completed and passed the Wind Analysis Simulation Program (WASP) computer modelling course in the United States.
